Retired D229 Administrator Named Interim Superintendent Of EPCHS D231

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The retired superintendent of Dist. 229 has been named interim superintendent of Evergreen Park Community High School Dist. 231, according to the high school’s website.

A familiar face to many in the area, Dr. Michael Riordan retired from Oak Lawn Community High School in 2023 after serving as superintendent for 15 years. He will replace retiring Tom O’Malley as the D231 superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year in Evergreen Park.

Riordan comes to EPCHS with 33 years of experience as an educator. He began his career as a science teacher at Marian Catholic High School before transitioning to Oak Lawn in 1992.

At OLCHS, Riordan was a teacher, coach, dean, department chair, assistant principal and principal before being named superintendent in 2008.

Riordan enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Erin, and their five adult children.
