Manhattan Mugging Victim Dies Weeks After Shot In Ankle, Police Say

NEW YORK CITY — A man died weeks after a robber shot him in the ankle during a Garment District mugging, police said.

The 35-year-old man’s death has been deemed a homicide by a medical examiner, although the two men accused of carrying out the violent Jan. 6 mugging as yet face only robbery and assault charges, authorities said.

NYPD officials told Patch the two men — Richard Johnson, 34, and Jarel Moore, 38 — likely will face homicide charges once police receive an official report from the city’s medical examiner.
