Boardwalk Staple Chippy's Launches Delivery In Point Pleasant Beach
POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — If you’ve ever wanted boardwalk fries on a cold winter day but didn’t feel like heading up to the boards to get some, Chippy’s on the boardwalk is ready to answer that need.
The boardwalk staple has launched a food delivery service, owner Jim Miller said. It’s not just the fried foods that people crave while strolling the boards, however; the menu includes a number of healthy offerings and seafood options.
It’s something Miller has been considering since the pandemic.

“It (delivery) was the only option during COVID,” he said, and served his restaurants — Jimmy’s Cucina in Brielle and Point Pleasant Beach — well.
It’s taken a couple of years to get the pieces in place, Miller said.

“In the summer it was crazy and I couldn’t think about it,” he said. In addition to the boardwalk fries, Miller owns two other stands on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, Chippy’s Beach Burritos and Chippy’s Funnel Cake and Pretzel Co. He also has the food concessions at the swimming beaches at Island Beach State Park.
The delivery menu for Chippy’s isn’t just snacks and the French fries and fried seafood he sells on the boardwalk. There are full seafood dinner entrees, chowders and bisques, and po’ boy sandwiches and healthy options such as salads and sesame-encrusted tuna bites. The menu emphasizes seafood, which Miller said is freshly prepared from scratch.
“Some places will buy frozen coconut shrimp,” he said, giving an example. “We make our batter ourselves.”
“I was born into this business,” Miller said, recounting how he would peel shrimp and wrap potatoes at his father’s restaurant when he was 5 years old. His father started the business on the boardwalk, and the delivery is just the next step to growing it.
Miller, who has a degree in hospitality and restaurant management, worked for another company for short time before returning to his father’s business. “It’s a lot of time, a lot of hours, but I enjoy what I do.”
The Chippy’s seafood delivery is limited to about 5 miles from the boardwalk, which he said is approximately as far as Spring Lake to the north and the Mantoloking Bridge to the south, and nearly to the Garden State Parkway to the west.
They do not offer pick-up — “We just don’t have the capability,” he said, because of the location and the parking issues — but Chippy’s has its own drivers instead of using Door Dash or GrubHub. Consequently, even with the delivery charge, the cost is lower because there’s no service charge.
