Three School Employees Mourned/Honored In Southington

SOUTHINGTON, CT — School officials last week paid tribute to three former Southington School System employees who have recently died.

The Southington Board of Education June 27 conducted moments of science for a longtime custodian, a veteran crossing guard and a beloved special education teacher — all of whom died in May/June.

Ronald Marut, 82, of Southington, a full-time custodian at Plantsville Elementary School from October 1994 until his retirement in 2011.

Marut died on May 15.

Nancy Robillard, 86, of Plantsville (Southington) who was a veteran crossing guard at South End Elementary School for nearly 25 years.

She died June 1.

Harriet Clark, 86, of Waterbury, a special education teacher for Southington Public Schools from 1978 until 2001, when she retired.

Clark died on June 6.

Southington Board of Education Chairperson Colleen Clark, before the tribute, read aloud the trio’s roles in the school system.
