Man United off-record brief lists four positives under Solskjaer

Amid the customary battle between those in favour of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and those calling for his head after Manchester United’s exit from the Champions league, an off-record brief has pointed out the positives.

The #Oleout brigade were in full flow on social media on Tuesday night as Solskjaer’s side were dismantled by RB Leipzig in a decisive Champions League game that saw United dumped out of the competition. Which is a good thing, apparently.

And the club are certainly keen to point out the positives, with Duncan Castles reporting an off-record brief listing four positives.

Firstly, they absolutely are still in contention for four trophies. They’ve beaten Luton and Brighton to remain in the League Cup, they are yet to play an FA Cup game and are now favourites for the Europa League.

19 points and 19 goals is better than last season, when their 13 points and 13 goals represented their worst ever start in the Premier League.

Five points off the leaders has at much to do with Liverpool not being as brilliant as it does with United improving. Jurgen Klopp’s side had 31 points after 11 games last season, compared to 24 this campaign.

And the team may well have an identity, but whether that is one they want is very much up for debate.
