David Luiz and Mikel Arteta are no longer on speaking terms after the Arsenal boss vowed to root out whoever leaked information about the Brazilian’s bust-up with Dani Ceballos, according to reports.
Reports suggested Luiz and Ceballos had been involved in a physical altercation following an argument after an inter-squad training match during the international break.
While it was claimed Luiz had drawn blood from Ceballos during the exchange, Arteta said recently that the incident was not unlike any other training ground disagreement.
OPINION: Same old Arsenal a damning indictment of Arteta’s leadership
However, he also vowed to find out who leaked the details of the confrontation to the media and claimed that there would be “consequences”.
“I don’t like the fact that that incident comes out at all,” said Arteta.
“I will find out where it is coming from and if that is the case, that goes completely against what I expect from each other, the privacy and the confidentiality that we need, and there will be consequences.”
And now Football.London claims that Arteta’s relationship with Luiz ‘has soured over the past few weeks, with neither the manager or player speaking directly to each other anymore.’
The report makes it clear that Arsenal have denied that, while his representative released a statement, it read: “David Luiz strongly denies this story about him and Arteta and insists he has a good relationship with Arteta and wishes nothing but success.”
The report adds that ‘several agents of first team players briefed the media of the fight between Dani Ceballos and David Luiz’.
Arteta apparently ‘told his squad in an internal meeting at London Colney that he will “destroy” whoever is behind the leaks.’
