Hopeful Pulls Out of Hinsdale D86 Race

HINSDALE, IL – The field of candidates running for four Hinsdale School District 86 board seats in the April 1 election has narrowed by one.

Hinsdale resident Jenny Gannon has left the race, according to a list on the DuPage County Clerk’s Office’s website.

It is unclear when Gannon withdrew, but the county indicates its candidate list was last updated Nov. 25.

Gannon moved to Hinsdale from Colorado, where she is still registered as an attorney.

If she had been elected, Gannon may have been an ally of school board President Catherine Greenspon.

At a board meeting last April, union members objected to keeping Greenspon at the helm. Dozens of teachers appeared wearing pro-union shirts and denouncing Greenspon’s record.

At a meeting a few days later, Gannon was among those who criticized the union’s actions.

She noted the union’s call for more collaboration between the administration and teachers. But she said teachers did not show such grace toward a “beloved teacher” who disagreed with proposed union-supported changes to the social studies curriculum.

At the time, Gannon acknowledged administrative turnover had been unprecedented, but she said the union failed to show the high rate was related to Greenspon’s role.

The board voted unanimously to reappoint Greenspon as president.
