No Liquor License For BP At Houbolt And I-80: Mayor D'Arcy Vows
JOLIET — Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy is making another recommendation for a liquor license denial for Tuesday night’s meeting. Not only does D’Arcy want the empty Citgo station near the Joliet Regional Airport to get rejected, the second-year mayor of the state’s third-largest city wants a no vote from the Joliet City Council on the proposed packaged sales liquor license being sought by the BP Gas Station facing Houbolt Road near Interstate 80.
The vote will take place at Tuesday night’s meeting.
“That the application of Abdul Basit for the premises located at 1411 Riverboat Center Drive for the issuance of a Class CG liquor license be denied,” the mayor’s recommendation to the full Joliet City Council declared. The applicant has 10 years of experience in the sales and service of alcohol, the city documents point out.
