321 New Homes, 76 Townhomes For Caton Farm Road: City Of Joliet
JOLIET — If you are driving along Caton Farm Road into the Kendall County portion of Joliet, you will see giant billboards and lots of them. The billboards were erected by the city of Joliet staff in recent days to let everyone know about a huge housing development being proposed along Caton Farm Road called the Vista Ridge Subdivision.
The proposed Joliet subdivision is a half mile east of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, which is at the corner of Caton Farm and Arbeiter Roads.
According to city plan commission documents, Vista Ridge Development LLC wants to build 321 single family homes and 76 townhouses on the 120-acre farmland.

As for that creepy, abandoned farmhouse on the property, the one you will see below in the photos, it will get demolished if the new housing development comes to fruition.
The proposed subdivision land is on the north side of Caton Farm, directly across the street from the Greywall Club, within walking distance from Plainfield South High School.

Joliet’s planning commission will review the Vista Ridge Subdivision project at Thursday afternoon’s meeting at City Hall. The meeting starts at 4 p.m.
According to city documents, the property at 8301 Caton Farm Road was annexed into Joliet and 20 years ago, the land was zoned single-family residential and low-density multifamily residential.
Then, 18 years ago, a final plat was approved by the city of Joliet authorizing 257 single family homes and 72 townhouses.
“Due to unfavorable market conditions, the subject property, consisting of 120 acres, has remained undeveloped farmland since the original entitlements were sought nearly 20 years ago,” Joliet staff reports show.
