Several Ballot Scanners Malfunction In Park Slope: Source

BROOKLYN, NY — As New Yorkers anxiously lined up across the city to cast their ballots for the election on Tuesday morning, Park Slope resident Miyuki Miyagi was discouraged to find that several ballot scanners at her local polling place were not working.

Miyagi told Patch that voters at M.S. 51 in Park Slope were instructed to put their ballots in emergency ballot boxes instead, around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

“We were told after filling in our ballots that all scanners were broken, so we should put our ballots in the emergency ballot boxes below the scanners, and they would be scanned in later,” Miyagi said. “I didn’t even think to wait or ask for an alternative way to vote. The emergency ballot boxes were quite full already, too.”
