New Canaan Approves Irrigation System Upgrades Around Steve Benko Pool
NEW CANAAN, CT — The Board of Selectmen approved a contract for upgrades to the irrigation system around the Steve Benko Pool during their meeting Tuesday morning.
The approval allows the Parks and Recreation Department to enter into a contract with Summer Rain, a Port Chester, N.Y., irrigation company, for upgrades to the irrigation lines and valves around the front entrance and walkways near the pool.
The total cost of the project would be $4,400, according to an agenda for Tuesday’s board meeting.

“We do use Summer Rain for our emergency repairs, anything that’s big that we can’t handle in house,” Howe said, “and they’ve installed a lot of our systems. They’ve been working on the pool system for probably the last 10 years about, and so they know the system.”
Selectman Amy Murphy Carroll also noted how beautiful the pool area has been this year and commended the team in charge of caring for it.
“I was over at the pool last week and the paving looks gorgeous, the pool looks gorgeous,” Murphy Carroll said. “It’s so clean, and I cannot believe how many people were using it in the best of ways…I’ve seen a marked increase in the maintenance in the pool, the cleanliness of it, so thank you.”
She also thanked Director of Public Works Tiger Mann for the beautiful paving work done in the area.
“Shout out for the paving,” Murphy Carroll said, “I mean it’s a work of art.”
