Crafty, Creative Local Opens New BYOB Crafting Studio In Basking Ridge

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Kristen Gannon has lived in Basking Ridge since she was 18. After getting married and raising 2 boys, she is setting down new roots with her business Create Studios.

The studio, at 93 South Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge (in the rear building), is hosting a grand opening and open house on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Having lived in Basking Ridge her whole adult life, Gannon said she had seen it change a lot over the years.

“One thing, as much as I love this town, I felt a need for myself and others for more good things to do in town. I hope this space brings uniqueness and activity to the town.”

Now that her sons Johnny and Brian are in college, Gannon felt a pull to do something she was passionate about. She has a background in IT and finance and a little bit of retail and furniture refinishing mixed in. But she always loved crafting at home.

“I have always been crafty and creative,” said Gannon.

Create Studios is BYOB and offers a place for adults and teens to come together and bond over the fun of creating. Gannon offers a number of workshops and private events for candle pours, cozy hand-knit blankets, wreath-making and forever flower arrangements.

She is also planning to offer succulent planters, faux stone vessels, glass etching (think highballs and decanters), BYOB paint and sip watercolors, beeswax candles and yin yoga, and a charcuterie workshop.

“Everything we do here is like an art studio,” said Gannnon. “My focus is not on the technical aspect. My hope is you come here and it might awaken something in you. I want people to just come here, have fun, try something new, and maybe they pursue it.”
