Bedford, Salem, Souhegan, Exeter, Milford Win Meets: New Hampshire Wrestling Results

CONCORD, NH — Wednesday and Thursday nights were busy nights for wrestlers in New Hampshire, with two dozen meets around the state.

Here are some of the highlights.

Bedford Beats Londonderry

The Bulldogs easily beat the Lancers on Thursday night, 59 to 22.

The bouts started with the 150-weight class, and Caleb Holden of Londonderry winning by medical decision, 10-1. Bedford’s Nicholas Green won by pin in the 157 while Tucker Watson of Bedford won by technical fall, 17-1.

After David Pento of Londonderry won in the 175-pound category, Bedford won the next five matches: In the 190, Aleksander Shklyar by fall, Gavin McConnell by pin in the 215, Matthew Benn won by forfeit in the 285 weight division, in the 106 Jackson Ela by pin, and Samuel Upham won in the 113-pound class.

In the 120, Cam Roussell of Londonderry won by pin, while Bedford’s Isabelle Boisvert won by forfeit in the 126. Dylan Nadeau of Londonderry won by fall and Alexander Jennings of Bedford won by forfeit in the 138. Jack Bergeron of Bedford also won by fall.

Salem Beats Nashua South, 63 to 17

The Blue Devils had a solid night against the Panthers on Thursday. John Blocksidge (106), Maddox Boudreau (113), Evan Lynch (120), Trevor O’Brien (126), Spencer Buscema (132), Caleb O’Rourke (138), and Riley O’Brien (144), all won by pin. For Nashua, Benjamin Byrne in the 150 won, Connor Whitman won by technical fall, 19-2, in the 165, and Nick Samos won by pin in the 175.

In the 157 for Salem, John Vargas won as did Owen Roux in the 190 and Zander Wood in the 215 category by fall. James Nelson won in a 4-2 decision in the 285.

Manchester Wrestlers Beaten by Keene, Milford

Milford easily bested Manchester West on Thursday, 58 to 22. Kiernan Lordan (120), Max Hammerstrom (126), Calix Stickney (138), Phillip Wright (150), Nathanael Post (190), and Brandon Leeman (285), all won by pin for Milford. Noah Kittredge in the 175 won by technical fall, 16-0, for the Spartans. Colin Taylor, wrestling in the 144 for Manchester West, won by medical decision, 9-0.

Merrimack Falls To Guertin

Bishop Guertin was able to beat the Tomahawks on Thursday, 43 to 30.

The Cardinals won six of the seven matches but also lost four by forfeit. For Merrimack, Amir Safa beat Kobe Spinney by fall in the 165 weight category in 4 seconds, according to TrackWrestling.com.

Winnisquam Regional, however, beat Guertin 46 to 32.

Nashua North Falls To Exeter

Exeter dominated Nashua North wrestlers on Thursday, winning 57 to 12.

For Exeter, Reid Grandmason in the 113, Harrison Higgins in the 132, Ryan Mikulsky in the 175, and Luke St. Onge in the 285 all won by falls. Nicholas Darby won by medical decision, 9-0, in the 144 while Juan Bueno won in the 157, 10-2, and Tyler Niemi won in the 165, 10-1, also by medical decisions. Owen Gagnon, wrestling for Nashua North in the 120-weight category, won by fall, while Sebastian Ochoa won a 13-7 decision in the 126 and Kayden Vallerand-Kennaeally won a 10-8 decision in the 150.

Only three of the Blue Hawks wins were by default.

Spaulding Downs The Clippers

The Red Raiders beat Portsmouth on Thursday night, 46 to 27, with five forfeits assisting the team with the victory.

Carter Kuhn, wrestling for Portsmouth in the 120, won by fall as did Logan Chasse in the 126. Andrew Craig won a 10-8 decision in the 132 bout for Portsmouth. Stephen Whisler for Portsmouth (150) and Cullen Dennett (165) won by falls. In extra matches, Nicholas Souza won by technical fall, 15-0, and Azul Chartier won a 9-6 decision for Portsmouth.

Souhegan Bests Alvirne, 54 to 30

Amherst and Mont Vernon wrestlers beat Hudson at home on Thursday, buoyed by five forfeits.

For Souhegan, Landon Carson in the 132, Chase Knuckles in the 157, and Seamus Wellen in the 285 all won by pins.

Some varsity wrestlers will compete at the George Bossi Lowell Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday while dozens of junior varsity wrestlers from several New Hampshire schools will be involved in bouts at Concord High School on Saturday. Wrestlers will also be competing at the Noble Maine Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27 and Dec. 28, while junior varsity wrestlers will be in Natick, Massachusetts. Both girls and boys will have separate bouts at the Natick event.

Wrestlers from around the region will also be competing in Keene for the Annual Minickiello Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 4.
