North Kingstown Fire Chief Scott Kettelle Retiring

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Fire Chief Scott Kettelle will retire 35 years after joining the North Kingstown Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter.

Kettelle has led the town’s fire department for more than eight years. His accomplishments as chief include enhancing training opportunities, fostering relations with neighboring fire departments, and developing “an open and honest relationship” with town departments and official, Town Manager Ralph Mollis said.

“I am lucky to not only have known Chief Kettelle as the fire chief, but he has also been a great friend and valued peer,” Mollis said. “His insight, experience, and leadership have been second to none. I wish him the very best in retirement.”

Town officials said Kettelle’s depth of knowledge and passion for firefighters resulted in him being appointed as chair of the Rhode Island Fire Education and Training Coordinating Board. He has also been recognized for initiatives to fundraise for and establish memorials for firefighters who lost their lives while on duty.

Town officials said Kettelle’s last day will be Dec. 31.
