Horsham Library Serves 'As Beacon Of Knowledge,' Director Says

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Regina Vesely stood before the crowd gathered for the 20th anniversary of the Horsham Township Library and thought about the building’s impact on the community.

The library director said that for two decades the library has served as a “beacon of knowledge, connection, and opportunity for all who walk through its doors.”

“When this library first opened in November 2004, it was more than just a building full of books, it was a vision—a vision to create a space where imagination, learning, and community could thrive, Vesely said in her remarks at a ceremony marking the milestone. “Over the years, it has evolved, adapted, and grown to meet the changing needs of our diverse community, offering not just books, but programs, resources, and services that empower, inspire, and connect us all.”

At the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary, Vesely thanked staff, friends, library board members, elected officials past and present, volunteers, and community supporters “who have dedicated their time and talents to making this library what it is today.’

“Your passion and commitment have made this library a true cornerstone of our community. As we celebrate the past 20 years, we also look forward to the future — a future where this library continues to serve as a gathering place our community, from the child just discovering the joy of reading to the adult looking to explore new interests. Here’s to the next 20 years, and to the countless stories, ideas, and connections that will unfold within these walls,” she said.

While the library celebrated its anniversary, Vesely also recognized another milestone.

She honored the “20 years of dedicated service” by Ellyn Benner, the children’s librarian.

Since the first week the library opened in 2004 Benner has not only helped children find books, but has opened the door to worlds of imagination, learning, and growth to our youngest community members, Vesely said.

“Through storytimes, summer reading programs, unique events, and countless individual interactions, Ellyn has been a constant and inspiring presence in the lives of so many of Horsham’s young readers,” she said. “For 20 years, Ellyn has shaped our library into a place where curiosity thrives, where each young reader is made to feel special, and where the love of reading is nurtured in a way that only a true professional can. It’s not just about the books, but about the connections, the encouragement, and the inspiration she provides to growing young minds. Ellyn, we are deeply grateful for your passion and the impact you’ve made in our community.”
