BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — U.S. News and World Report recently released their 2025 ranking of the nation’s best public elementary schools — and four Bergen County public schools came out on top.

The news magazine used publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education in its metrics. Data included state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading/language arts, students’ background, and their achievements in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios were applied to break ties.

School 28 in Paterson was listed as the best public elementary school in New Jersey, according to the list.
