Concord Police Investigating Crash On North State Street
CONCORD, NH — An officer leaving a traffic stop discovered a crash on North State Street on Monday night.
A little past 7 p.m., an officer was at a traffic stop on North State Street and Hilcrest Avenue when they reported seeing what they thought was a crash near Abbottville Road and Peabody Street. As they turned around, dispatch reported they began receiving calls about the crash.
More police units were sent to the scene. The first officer requested Concord fire and rescue teams since the driver of the vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler registered out of Westmoreland, appeared injured. The driver also crashed into a utility pole.

“He is breathing but has not responded,” the officer said.
Officers shut down the entire street and started rerouting drivers around the scene. A Merrimack County Sheriff’s Deputy also arrived to assist.

Witnesses in other vehicles stopped and let police know what they saw.
An officer also reported to dispatch that the Peabody Street sign as well as a stop sign had been knocked down during the incident. Unitil was also requested.
After the driver was transported, an officer went to the hospital. One officer believed the incident may have been caused by driver fatigue.
Just before 10 p.m., police announced the road was reopening, and Unitil would make repairs to the pole. No customers appeared to lose power during the incident.
