Crash On Centre Street Takes Out Concord Fire Hydrant: Watch
CONCORD, NH — Concord police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a two-vehicle crash that knocked down a fire hydrant on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 5:15 p.m., police dispatch began receiving 911 calls about a crash in the area of Centre and North Spring streets. Fire and rescue teams were also requested. When they arrived, they found a Nissan Sentra and a Subaru Crosstrek damaged as well as a knocked-over fire hydrant. One of the officers said the fire hydrant was not leaking water.
“So it looks like it was just dislodged,” they said.

Tow trucks were immediately requested since the Subaru was in the middle of the street. A fire engine and police also blocked the street during the incident.
The Crosstek, based on the marks in the street, appeared to have hit the fire hydrant at some point and then drove a short distance. The back driver’s side tire’s rim showed marks in the street.

Two drivers were examined, and the fire hydrant, which was sheared off, was reported to Concord General Services for repair.
Just before 5:45 p.m., firefighters cleared the scene.
