Gift Cards For MA Teachers, National Dog Day Deals: MA Cheap Eats

MASSACHUSETTS — Kids are going back to school, but one chain with local spots in Massachusetts wants to give an early thank-you to the teachers heading back to school this month, too.

honeygrow has launched a campaign that stretches through the weekend where teachers can be entered to win a $25 gift card.

Teachers can be nominated at the link here, and 50 winners will be notified on Aug. 26.

Philadelphia-based honeygrow, founded in 2012, added a location at the Northshore Mall in June to stores in the Seaport and Fenway sections of Boston.

The honeygrow menu features stir-fry dishes, salads and customizable options that include steak, chicken, shrimp, turkey meatballs, tofu, eggs, gluten-free and whole wheat noodles.

There are also signature honeybars that include either cheesecake filling or vanilla yogurt as a base with both tasty healthy and decadent options as toppings.

Pizza, But Make It Bigger

Sal’s Pizza is a frequent stop for fans of the New England Patriots and others visiting Gillette Stadium throughout the year.

This year, Sal’s announced a new option at the stadium as it will offer the signature giant slice, which is half of an 11-inch by 8.5-inch pizza. It will be available in cheese or pepperoni.

Sal’s is also offering their 12-inch gluten-free and 17-inch round pizzas in the Gillette Stadium suites.

To celebrate the new options, Sal’s will offer a free small pizza the day after any Patriots win during the regular season. This offer is new this year, and guests must purchase an extra-large pizza to redeem the free small pizza, company officials said.

Free Treats For Your Pup On National Dog Day

This week’s Cheap Eats column covers not only the humans in your life, but the beloved dogs, too.

National Dog Day is on the calendar for Aug. 26, and a few chains with locations in Massachusetts are planning to make beloved “Pup Cups” and other pet-friendly treats free.

Dunkin’ and Starbucks are among the coffee chains set to offer free pup cups. Sonic will offer a “wag cup”, though not all locations are guaranteed to participate.

Dairy Queen, the beloved ice cream chain for humans, will also offer a frozen treat for dogs. A free vanilla soft serve pup cup will be offered, and it may even come topped with a dog treat.
