Darien Man Screams In Police Station, Fakes Injury

DARIEN, IL – A Darien man last week screamed at a records clerk at the police station, demanding court documents, police said.

The 56-year-old man lives in the 900 block of 69th Street. Patch wrote Wednesday about his arrest, but later received more details after getting the police report through a public records request.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, the man showed up at the station and asked for a copy of court records and orders, according to the report. He ordered a records clerk to get on her computer and print the documents.

When officers arrived, the man yelled at them and gave them the middle finger, police said. He then drove away.

A half hour later, the 56-year-old returned to the station and was then charged with disorderly conduct.

At the station, he faked being hurt multiple times by officers, according to the report. He also faked falling off a seat that was about 2 feet high, police said.

The man has a history of faking injuries, including purposely running into a Darien police car, according to the report.

The man’s neighbors recently complained about him at a City Council meeting, with one calling him an “absolute menace.”

Over four days in late July, the man was charged twice with disorderly conduct after he played loud music late into the night, police said.
