Suspects Try To Steal Cars Near Compo Beach In Westport: Police
WESTPORT, CT — Westport police issued a warning to residents to lock their homes and vehicles, after suspects tried to steal cars near Compo Beach over the weekend.
“Over this past weekend, Fairfield County, including Westport, saw an increase in stolen vehicle attempts and larcenies from unlocked cars,” wrote Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. “Please lock your homes and vehicles, utilize alarm and surveillance systems, and report any suspicious behavior to the Westport Police Department.”
Some details of the incidents were not disclosed, but Woods told Patch that thieves were only successful stealing some undisclosed items from vehicles.

“No cars were stolen, but three suspects in a stolen car attempted to steal two cars from the beach,” Woods said. “Don’t know if there was any relation, but there were two other cars that had items stolen from them.”
The investigation into the Westport incidents is ongoing.
