Local Couple Bringing Discount Supermarket To Gloucester Township

SICKLERVILLE, NJ — In a few months, Gloucester Township will have a new discount supermarket.

Construction is underway on Grocery Outlet of Sicklerville — part of a national chain that slashes prices on name-brand items, primarily from overstocks and closeouts. Many locations are independently operated by locally based families, and the Sicklerville location is no exception.

Newlyweds Blake and Becky Maxey have both lived and worked in South Jersey for most of their lives. Becky was born and raised in Barrington, and Blake purchased his first home in Blackwood more than a decade ago.

Blake and Becky have each served in management roles in the food and beverage industry. Grocery Outlet, which opens June 27, will mark their first venture into small business.

The new store promises 40-70 percent discounts off name brands, with full produce and meat departments. Grocery, deli, dairy, frozen, and health and beauty items will be available, as well. Unique to the Sicklerville store will be the NOSH department, which stands for Natural, Organic, Specialty and Healthy products.
