Sugar Llamas Mini Donut, Ice Cream Chain To Open New Shelton Store
SHELTON, CT — Sugar Llamas, a small chain specializing in mini donuts, coffee and ice cream, will soon open its first Connecticut location in Shelton.
Sugar Llamas Spokesperson Yolanda Ihasz confirmed Tuesday a new location is planned to open in the Fountain Square plaza at 801 Suite B, next to Mercato Italian Kitchen and Bar.
“Shelton was an excellent choice for us because of all the new exciting development with restaurants and stores opening up all the time,” Ihasz said in an email to Patch. “We are proud to be part of this new development.”

The Shelton location’s menu will consist of Sugar Llama’s popular and inventive mini donuts, as well as specialty coffee drinks, their signature “Llama”- aid and ice cream made fresh in-house.
Custom ice cream cakes will also be available, according to Ihasz.

“The store design is going to be worth a visit,” Ihasz said, “with the llama theme and classic ice cream shoppe vibe.”
While an official date is dependent on construction deadlines, Ihasz said the Shelton location is currently planned to open around the second week of April.
“We will have a finalized grand opening soon,” Ihasz said.
According to their website, Sugar Llamas aims to be every customer’s favorite local donut shop, coffee house and ice cream parlor all rolled into one; a one-stop treat experience for the morning, afternoon and night.
The store’s mini donuts come in a variety of “house favorite” flavors, including plain, cinnamon sugar and cocoa powdered sugar, as well as “Llama Legend” varieties like peanut butter cup, s’mores and chocolate chip pancake.
Customers can also top each donut with a number of exciting “drizzles,” such as apple, caramel, marshmallow, cotton candy, coconut and Reese’s peanut butter.
Anyone looking to add some fun flavor to their coffee can also choose from a long list of options that include caramel chai, white chocolate, cinnamon and lavender. Additionally, every drink is served with a free hot mini donut.
Sugar Llamas mostly operates locations in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Kansas. In addition to Shelton, new locations are planned for Fort Smith, Ark., Edmond, Okla., and Longview, Texas.
