Grammy-Winner's Private Jet Makes Emergency Landing In Van Nuys
VAN NUYS, CA — A private jet carrying Grammy-winning Colombian singer Karol G was forced to make an emergency landing at Van Nuys Airport Thursday shortly after taking off from Hollywood Burbank Airport.
Not long after going airborne, the cockpit began smoking, forcing the plane to land safely at Van Nuys Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Authority, which is investigating the incident. The emergency landing happened at about 9 p.m. Thursday.
No one was injured in the incident.

“A twin-engine Gulfstream IV landed safely at Van Nuys Airport in California around 9 p.m. local time on Thursday, Feb. 29 after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit,” The FAA announced. “The flight departed from Hollywood Burbank Airport and was headed to El Salvador International Airport. ”
The plane carried 16 people. It originally flew east but quickly turned around when the pilot noticed the smoke, KABC reported.

The cause of the malfunction remains under investigation.
Video from the airport showed the Colombian reggaeton singer hugging people on the tarmac after she departed the jet.
Born Carolina Giraldo Navarro, the 33-year-old singer has won a Grammy, five Latin Grammys and four Billboard Music awards. Her latest album is the first Spanish-language album by a female artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 English language chart.
