Sag Harbor Community Rallies To Help Beloved Vet Employee
SAG HARBOR, NY — A beloved veterinary clinic worker was badly hurt in a crash recently and needs help during the long recovery process.
A GoFundMe page, “Dani Medical Fund,” was created by Mariah Moskowitz and Ever Perez for Dani Perez.
“Our beloved Dani of the Sag Harbor Veterinary Clinic community was in a terrible car accident on Sunday, February 19,” Moskowitz said. “She was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she received a couple of surgeries to repair her shattered pelvis, broken hip, and a rod put in her knee.”

She was released from the hospital last week, Moskowitz said. But the road ahead is still long.
“She has been a face of the clinic for eight years, and she could use the help of our close community now,” she said. “Anything you can spare to help her and her family prepare for the impacts of this would be greatly appreciated by all of us who care about and love her.”

The fact that Perez can’t walk currently, friend April Gornik said, “is a nightmare. She thinks she’ll be recuperating for a couple of months before she can go back to work. It’s just awful,” she said.
She added: “Dani is a wonderful, truly compassionate and rock-steady person. If you possibly can, please help her. My poor Dani! Thank God she is alive.”
Speaking with Patch, Perez expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love. “It’s been tough, not being able to walk at all — and I totaled my car in the accident, so that’s been tough, too.”
But, she added, the community buoys during the darkest hours. “I’ve been a local for 35 years here — and it’s just amazing how everyone gets together when help is needed.”
