Showers, 2nd Cold Blast And Low Temps Forecast In GA
GEORGIA — After battling freezing temperatures, the weather pattern in Georgia is shifting to showers ahead of a second cold front into the weekend, weather officials told Patch on Wednesday.
With wind chill values of around 16-20 degrees predicted Wednesday night, temperatures are not expected to be as cold as Tuesday night’s conditions in metro Atlanta, said Carmen Hernandez, meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Peachtree City office.
However, the weather service forecasts a low of 20 degrees Wednesday night for the metro.

With the cold weather, Hernandez urges residents to protect the four P’s: pets, people, pipes and plants.
Showers are anticipated to arrive after 8 p.m. Thursday but should clear out before 7 a.m. Friday in metro Atlanta. Hernandez said highs should be around 50 degrees, seemingly the highest temperature experienced this week.

The Columbus area has a 50 percent chance of showers while showers are anticipated after 1 a.m. Friday in Savannah.
By Friday, temperatures should be in the low 60s in Savannah and in the low 50s in Columbus.
The forecast in the north Georgia mountains calls for an 80 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m. Friday.
Once the rain clears, a second cold front will blast through Georgia on Friday.
Low temperatures in the 13-17 degree range are forecast for Friday night into Saturday morning, Hernandez said. She added wind chill values could be closer to the single digits for the second time this week.
Then, Saturday night into Sunday morning, residents could experience temperatures of 14-17 degrees before they warm up to the mid-20s Monday morning, Hernandez said.
Temperatures could rise into the mid-40s by midweek next week, she said.
The weather service predicted the following detailed forecast around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday:
Today: Sunny, with a high near 40. Northwest wind 5-10 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the morning.
Thursday Night: Showers, mainly before 1 a.m. Low around 33. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Windy, with a northwest wind 10-20 mph increasing to 20-30 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 13. Windy.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 30.
Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 13.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 40.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50.
