Wind Blows Trampoline Into Power Lines In Old Bridge
OLD BRIDGE, NJ — Wind gusts were clocked as high as 70 miles per hour in the rainstorm that battered New Jersey Tuesday night (that was reportedly on Island Beach State Park). And thousands of residents across the state lost electric power that evening, and into the following day.
But nothing could prepare utility crews for what they encountered in Old Bridge:
The wind was so strong it actually picked up a trampoline that was in someone’s yard, and blew it into nearby power lines, according to Chris Hoenig, a media spokesman for FirstEnergy/JCP&L, the area’s utility provider.

The trampoline was in the backyard of a home on Balsam Court in Old Bridge, he said.
“It was certainly one of the more unique situations we’ve faced, but thankfully, since it’s a cul de sac, the outage only affected four customers,” said Hoenig.

Hoenig said that due to privacy policies, he could not release exactly which house the trampoline blew away from.
Every trampoline is different, but most manufacturers say they can withstand wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour maximum.
