Parker, Hadley Road Jurisdiction Transferred To Homer Glen

HOMER GLEN, IL — At its meeting on Dec. 21, the Will County Board approved the transfer of jurisdiction of Parker Road/Chicago-Bloomington Trail/Hadley Road to the Village of Homer Glen.

“Village staff will work with Will County DOT to finalize all necessary paperwork with IDOT for the formal transfer of jurisdiction of the roadway,” the Village said.

The county had held several public meetings about possible plans for the project, which runs generally from US Route 6 to Will-Cook Road. According to the county, the pavement of the roadway in this area was constructed in the 1980s, and needs to be replaced.

During public information sessions, the Village said that residents supported maintaining the existing roadway profile and all the environmental features next to the road.

In September, the Homer Glen Village Board passed a resolution supporting the protection of “Heritage Routes,” including Parker Road, Hadley Road and Chicago-Bloomington Trail.

The Village has said that having local control of the roadway was the best option for protection of resident concerns.

In October, the Board authorized staff to request jurisdictional transfer from the county, so that the roads could be added to the village street system.

The County Board unanimously approved the transfer at its Dec. 21 meeting.
