Country Blaze BBQ Moving To Shorewood, Vote Nears
SHOREWOOD, IL — The village of Shorewood’s planning and zoning commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the plans of Channahon restaurant owner Troy Johnson to move his Country Blaze BBQ to Shorewood, at the Park Place Plaza.
If Johnson’s plans in Shorewood are approved, Country Blaze BBQ would occupy the spot that served for many years as the original Casa Maya restaurant. According to Shorewood, Johnson has requested site plan approval for an outdoor dining area and BBQ smoker for Country Blaze BBQ.
For the past few years, Country Blaze BBQ has been in Channahon at 25445 S Pheasant Drive. Johnson announced on Facebook several weeks ago he would be leaving that location. Johnson said he will be leaving the Channahon restaurant location on the last Sunday in August.

According to Shorewood, the plans for Country Blaze BBQ include dine-in, carry-out and delivery. Johnson will sell BBQ, sides and soft drinks. He does not plan to apply for a liquor license or to serve alcohol, the village noted.
“Mr. Johnson would like to be able to offer his patrons outdoor dining and would like to bring a smoker to his new location,” Shorewood’s planning and zoning reports show. “As such, he has requested site plan approval for an outdoor dining area in the front which will consist of four tables with chairs, and a BBQ smoker in the back which will be approximately four feet by 8 feet.

“Mr. Johnson is requesting the outdoor patio for the purpose of maximizing the value of the space. Outdoor dining would allow the business to operate in the event of any future public health-related lockdowns and will give the residents and visitors of Shorewood another dining option, something that has been enthusiastically desired by residents.”
