“Say it ain’t so. The best thin crust in this area.”

“Hope everyone is OK. Maybe just some mechanical issues. Hope to see you soon.”

“I was going to try this place. Hope all is OK.”

“Best pizza in SHOREWOOD.”

On Monday afternoon, Patch visited the closed restaurant and there is a sign posted on the door explaining, “Closed Due To Family Passing.”

Meanwhile, one of the restaurant social media followers went to the Carson’s Corner Facebook page to let everyone “Carson’s Corner is not closed for good. As soon as they reopen, they will post.”

A new Shorewood carryout restaurant, Carson’s Corner Pizzeria opened in March 2021 along Route 59 inside the former Louie’s Pizza restaurant, 716 Cottage St.

Carson’s Corner is attached to the Bull Pen Sports Bar.

In June 2021, Patch profiled Carson’s Corner’s signature sandwich, the Italian breaded steak sandwich, which had been drawing customers from as far away as Dwight.

The Italian breaded steak sandwich has been the biggest crowd favorite, according to Carson’s owner Michael Antonson. He ran Carson’s along with his wife, Maria, and their daughter, Allison.

“I grew up cooking at Tony’s Italian Beef in Chicago, at 70th and Pulaski,” Michael Antonson told Joliet Patch during a 2021 interview.
