Get Free Ice Cream During Jeni's Grand Opening In San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA — Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will swing open its doors and serve free ice cream during the June 5 grand opening celebration of the company’s newest San Diego scoop shop in North Park.
The ice cream chain opened its first San Diego area scoop shop on El Camino Real in Carlsbad in March 2022. Jeni’s North Park is the company’s second location in the region.
“Our goal is to serve amazing ice cream and build community wherever we go, which is why we are very intentional about where we open our shops,” Kate Gentille, a spokesperson for Jeni’s, told Patch.

“We look for walkable communities where we can become part of the fabric of the neighborhood,” Gentille added. “North Park fits the bill. It felt like the right location to grow our community in San Diego.”
The shop will be scooping its classics, including Brambleberry Crisp and Salty Caramel, as well as warm weather staples such as Strawberry Buttermilk, Sweet Cream Biscuits with Peach Jam, and Lemon and Blueberries Parfait.

Jeni’s ice creams aren’t new to the San Diego area. Some of the company’s best-selling flavors — such as Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Gooey Butter Cake — are packed in pints and available around San Diego at Barons Market, Ralph’s, Target and Whole Foods.
Jeni’s was founded by James Beard Award-winner Jeni Britton in 2002 in Columbus, Ohio. Today, the company has more than 75 scoop shops across the country.
Jeni’s in North Park is located at 2871 University Ave.
The scoop shop’s grand opening is scheduled from 7-11 p.m. June 5. The shop will offer free ice cream scoops for all and swag bags for the first 50 people in line, according to the company.
